A Time to Wait in Prayer
Most of us are familiar with the Israelites’ victory at the battle of Jericho, but do you know what happened after that? Joshua attempted to take the city of Ai, and 36 Israelites died in battle before their army retreated in fear. Why, Joshua wondered, would the Lord do this to them (Josh. 7:7-9)? Apparently, he was unaware of two problems. First, an Israelite disobeyed when he took forbidden plunder after Jericho fell. Second, God did not initiate the battle; Joshua had been persuaded by his own advisors. Because Joshua failed to seek heavenly counsel, he didn’t know about the Israelite’s crime until it was too late. After the wrongdoer was put to death, Joshua waited for God’s cue to take Ai. Then, and only then, was the Hebrew army successful (Josh. 8:1-25). Can you see yourself making a mistake similar to Joshua’s— that is, trying to handle a situation in your own strength? It’s easier than we think when sin skews our thinking and hinders our communication with the heavenly Father. Let’s each examine our heart earnestly, confess any sin, ask God to lead us, and then wait for Him. Remember, His guidance is always better than our own. This battle shows that no matter the situation, we must understand Christ will always be with us.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we rise to meet each new day, please let us be filled with Your spirit. Wherever we go, let us spread love, joy, peace, goodness, and faithfulness. Let us desire to become more like you and to worship you in all we do. Help us desire these things so much more than the sin that entices us. Thank you for always going before us. Lord, in times of need, you are always there. We ask that you continue to be with Eli Ransburg, Miss. Mikeska’s mother Suzan, and Mrs. Meier’s sister Barbara Wollberg. We ask that you bless the Gloe family and continue to be with KC Gloe through the next few months as his cancer surgery will soon be upon him, and please be with everyone affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Amen.

Popeyes Releases a "Fashion" Line Inspired by Beyoncé

"Popeyes, it seems, no longer wants to be in the chicken business. That's not to say that the fast-food chain will stop dishing out poultry. Never fear, it's still going to be doing plenty of that.

With its newest product lineup, the company is showing that it has ambitions loftier than merely selling us fried chicken, however delicious those sandwiches might be.

At the end of January Popeyes rolled out its very own fashion line. That is, if you consider a fast-food work uniform to be chic.

Popeyes has grown up and gotten a taste of the big time. Now it's seeking to be a lifestyle brand. Will customers buy it? Maybe. After all, we are the nation that lined up around blocks for its spicy chicken sandwich. We Instagrammed the dish like we were being paid to do it and then turned on one another when supplies ran out. Maybe we will want to don a $30 tunic that the company claims is "as classic as our 3-piece tenders and as hot as our spicy dressing." Perhaps the $20 cap emblazoned with the chain's logo could become the must-have accessory for spring.

On its website hawking the goods, the company is hitting a very cool-girl fashiony note. It has minimalist styling, real-people models (they're actual employees) and of-the-moment branding. The line is dubbed "That Look from Popeyes."

Newsela: Pluto Has a Nitrogen Heartbeat

Pluto Has a Nitrogen Heartbeat

"NASA's New Horizons team researches Pluto. Pluto is a dwarf planet. The team has a spacecraft that traveled to Pluto. It took pictures of Pluto and gathered other information. The spacecraft is currently past Pluto. The team published a study on February 4.

The study says that Pluto's weather cycle works like a heartbeat.

Pluto has a giant basin. The basin is covered in nitrogen ice. Nitrogen is a chemical element. From space, the basin has the shape of a heart. The basin is called Sputnik Planitia. It is nicknamed the "heart."

Each day on Pluto, sunlight hits the Sputnik Planitia basin, which is the left side of the "heart." This turns the nitrogen ice into gas. At night, it gets really cold on Pluto. This causes the gas nitrogen to turn back into ice. This cycle repeats every day on Pluto. One day on Pluto is equal to about six and a half days on Earth."
